How the calculation works

  • Total investment = pallet cost + transportation + repairs + other expenses.
  • Selling costs = estimated revenue × fee rate + shipping.
  • Net after fees = estimated revenue − selling costs.
  • Profit = net after fees − total investment.
  • ROI = profit ÷ total investment.
  • Break-even revenue = (investment + shipping) ÷ (1 − fee rate).
  • Max price to pay = net after fees − non-pallet costs.

Getting the revenue estimate right

Every figure in this calculator is easy to look up except one: estimated resale revenue. That single input decides whether the answer is useful, and it is where optimism creeps in. Base it on the items you can actually see, priced from recent comparable used sales, and assume some portion of the pallet never sells.

If you would rather not guess, FlipForge's pallet scanner reads the visible inventory from your photos or a walk-around video, researches resale ranges per marketplace, and fills in conservative, expected and optimistic revenue figures for you — along with a deal score.

Calculator questions

How do you calculate profit on a liquidation pallet?

Add every cost of owning and prepping the pallet (pallet price, transport, repairs, other expenses) to get your investment. Take your expected resale revenue, subtract marketplace fees and shipping to get net after fees, then subtract your investment. What remains is profit.

What is a good ROI on a pallet?

Many resellers look for an estimate well above break-even to absorb items that never sell, and treat anything close to break-even as a pass. The right target depends on how fast the category sells and how much of your money and space the pallet ties up.

What is break-even revenue?

The total resale revenue you need so that revenue minus fees and shipping exactly covers your investment. It accounts for fees being a percentage of the sale, so break-even revenue is always higher than your investment.

What is the maximum price I should pay for a pallet?

The most you can pay and still break even: your net after fees, minus the non-pallet costs like transport and repairs. Pay less than that number by the margin you require, and you have a deal worth doing.
