Buying decisions

Should I Buy This Pallet?

You usually have a few minutes, partial information and a seller waiting. This is the checklist to run, and how FlipForge's Deal Analyzer turns your photos into a buy, negotiate or pass answer.

The 60-second checklist

  • Can I see enough? If most of the load is hidden, the price must drop to match the uncertainty.
  • Do I know this category? If you cannot price the items from memory or comparables, you are gambling.
  • Is it complete? Missing batteries, chargers, blades and attachments cut resale value hard.
  • Can I move it? Transport, space and a sorting session are real costs due today.
  • Can I sell it locally? Heavy items that must ship often have no margin left after postage.
  • What is my ceiling? Know the maximum price before you speak. Never discover it mid-negotiation.

What the Deal Analyzer gives you

Itemized visible inventory

Photos or a walk-around video are combined into one analysis, with duplicate protection so the same physical item is not counted twice across angles.

Four confidence readings

Visual coverage, item identification, market pricing and overall estimate are reported separately, so you know which part of the answer is weakest.

Marketplace-aware resale

Estimates per marketplace, adjusted for fees and shipping, because the same item nets very different amounts on Facebook Marketplace, eBay and Mercari.

Three scenarios plus worst case

Conservative, expected and optimistic outcomes, and a check for what happens if a share of the items never sell.

The numbers that decide it

Expected profit, ROI, break-even price and the maximum recommended purchase price.

A clear verdict

A deal score from strong buy to pass, recalculated instantly when you edit the asking price or your costs.

Why coverage matters more than optimism

The most common way to lose money on a pallet is to assume the boxes you cannot see are full of the good stuff. FlipForge deliberately refuses to do that. If coverage is low, it tells you the estimate is incomplete and suggests what would improve it: more photos, a walk-around video, or close-ups of model numbers.

You can add media to an existing scan rather than starting over, and uncertain items are marked so you can see exactly why their identification or pricing confidence is low.

Buying questions

How do I decide whether a pallet is worth buying?

Value only the items you can see, price them from comparable used sales, subtract fees, shipping, transport and repairs, then compare that figure to the asking price. If the gap does not comfortably cover unsold items and your time, pass.

What is a deal score?

FlipForge combines expected profit, ROI, how much of the pallet it could actually see, and how solid the identification and pricing evidence is, into a single verdict from strong buy through to pass. It is a summary of the underlying numbers, which you can always open and inspect.

What if some items do not sell?

That is the scenario that ruins otherwise good deals, so FlipForge models it directly: a worst-case check that assumes a portion of the load never sells, alongside conservative, expected and optimistic scenarios.

Can I change the purchase price and recalculate?

Yes. Purchase price, transport and other expenses are editable, and profit, ROI, break-even and the deal score update immediately โ€” which is exactly what you want while negotiating.

Does the analyzer count items hidden inside boxes?

No. Only visible inventory is valued. Hidden goods may turn out to be upside, but they are never used to justify the price, because that is how buyers talk themselves into bad pallets.
